This page explains how Topstep’s Trader Referral Discount Code program (the “Program”) works. The Program is governed by, and these terms work alongside, Topstep’s Terms of Use — in particular Section 14 (Promo code usage) and Section 29 (Rewards) — which are incorporated by reference. If anything on this page conflicts with the Terms of Use, the Terms of Use control.

By generating, sharing, or redeeming a Referral Code, you agree to the Terms of Use, including Sections 14 and 29.

How the Program works

An existing Topstep user (a “Code Owner”) generates a unique referral code (a “Referral Code”). By default, the Referral Code is active but not publicly visible — the Code Owner shares it manually with a prospective new trader. A Code Owner can choose to make their Referral Code more broadly discoverable by turning on “Display on my profile” in their Trader Profile settings; doing so is optional and does not change how the code works, only how easily others can find it.

When a new trader (a “Code User”) uses the Referral Code — however they received it — to complete their first Trading Combine® purchase:

• The Code User gets 15% off that first Trading Combine purchase.

• The Code Owner earns a Reward: 15% off their next purchase.

One code, two discounts. Full eligibility, tracking, and program-specific rules are set out in Section 29 of our Terms of Use.

For Code Owners

• Generate your Referral Code from your Topstep account.

• Each Referral Code is valid for 180 days from the date it’s generated.

• You may earn up to 5 Rewards within any rolling 90-day period, each worth 15% off your next purchase. 

• A Reward is earned only when a Code User completes their first Trading Combine purchase using your Referral Code.

• Rewards are tracked and communicated to you by email — that email is your record of the Reward and its expiration date.

• Each Reward expires 90 days after it’s earned, whether or not you’ve hit the 5-Reward cap.

• You’re permitted to share your own Referral Code for purposes of this Program. This is a specific, limited exception to the general restriction on sharing promo codes in Section 14 of our Terms of Use — see Section 14 for the full list of what’s still off-limits (for example, selling, trading, or commercially exploiting a code).

For Code Users

• Use a Referral Code for 15% off your first Trading Combine® purchase.

• You may redeem only one Referral Code, one time, in your lifetime, regardless of how many Topstep accounts you hold or create.

• The discount applies only to a first-time Trading Combine purchase.

Reward and code terms

Every Referral Code is subject to the following terms, which also appear in the email you receive when someone redeems your code:

Code has no cash value and may not be substituted for cash, credit, or any other item of value. One-time use. Code expires on {date that is 90 days after a Code is earned}. Code may be modified or terminated at any time without notice. Acceptance and use of Code is subject to all applicable laws and additional terms, including those in the Terms of Use. All terms and conditions are subject to change at Topstep’s sole discretion.

Eligibility, fraud, and Topstep’s discretion

Eligibility requirements for earning or redeeming Rewards under this Program — including U.S. residency, age, and OFAC restrictions — are set out in Section 29 of our Terms of Use. Topstep may deny, withhold, or claw back any Reward or Referral Code redemption it determines, in its sole discretion, to be fraudulent, abusive, self-referred, or not the result of a genuine first-time Trading Combine® purchase, as further described in Section 29. Topstep’s decisions on all matters related to the Program are final.
