FAQs
What's changing? We're replacing the tiered Live Performance Bonus with a monthly leaderboard competition named Topstep Octagon. Live Funded traders are ranked by Net PnL, and the top 100 ranked on the Leaderboard will win bonuses. Here’s the bonus pool for our pilot launch in July, with a total bonus pool of $250,000.
All Live Funded Accounts (LFAs) are eligible and automatically enrolled in Topstep Octagon. No sign-up required. The top 100 win bonuses!
Placement ranking will be determined by total monthly profit and loss (PnL) only, calculated and accumulating from the start of the month. Every account starts each month at a virtual $0 for ranking purposes.
This means that each LFA starts at a virtual zero PnL for the month in terms of how the Leaderboard ranking is determined, regardless of the account balance it entered the month with. Prior account balances of course are retained in the LFA, but do not apply to the current month’s PnL total for determining ranking.
No, the best traders get to Live and consistently win through Responsible Trading. It’s the reason Live Funded Accounts have Daily Loss Limit (DLL) built in, and the reason why our Risk team helps monitor and lock in your profits. The best traders will trade responsibly to get called up to Live, and trade responsibly to win Topstep Octagon.
- Risk Lock-In - Once you're in a Live Funded Account® (LFA), you're trading real firm-backed capital. When you have exceptional intraday performance, the Risk Team may set a minimum profit floor for the day. That's Risk Lock-In. It's not meant to stop you from trading or cap your upside — it's meant to make sure a great day stays great.
- DLL built in - All Live Funded Accounts have a Daily Loss Limit that scales dynamically as your Live Funded Account® (LFA) profits grow. Earn your way to more buying power while trading responsibly.
Yes, Live Funded traders can opt out by contacting Support. Note that by opting out of Topstep Octagon, you will not be eligible for the bonuses and will not be displayed on the Leaderboard.
No, “Scale In and Scale Up” and Dynamic Live Risk Expansion are not changing. Topstep Octagon is only replacing the prior Topstep Live Performance Bonus.
- The way you unlock capital and scale your DLL has not changed in Live.
- This applies to all Live Funded traders, regardless of whether you are in the top 100 for Topstep Octagon.

June performance bonuses will be tallied at the end of day on June 30th, 2026. As with the prior bonus structure, you must hit or exceed the profit target to earn a performance bonus.
Yes, June performance bonuses will be tallied at the end of day on June 30th, 2026. All performance bonuses based on the prior bonus structure will be paid out directly into your account.
Yes, the Leaderboard will reset at market open on the first day of each month, with monthly PnL for Topstep Octagon resetting to zero. Your total PnL will be unaffected.
Bonuses will be paid the following month after the Leaderboard rankings are finalized. The bonus is added directly to your account balance and you will be notified via email. Bonuses added to your account balance follow the same standard payout guidelines.
No, your placement in the Leaderboard determines which bonus you qualify for. Only one bonus is paid to each placement.
Tied placements are extremely rare, but in such instances we will round up and provide the higher bonus for both traders.
First, congrats on being called to Live! Though your monthly PnL toward Topstep Octagon will start at zero, you will still have a chance to compete in the current month. Anything is possible.
